Securewest International's training facility conveniently located in Norfolk, Virginia just off Newtown Road near 264 and 64 interchange, offers DCJS approved and licensed training courses for unarmed and armed Security Officers employed or looking for employment in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Night and weekend classes are available. Cash and Credit Card payments are accepted. Seat reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are accepted if seats are available.
Course candidates are provided with free of charge photo ID, if required, for Security Officer ID cards and finger print processing is also available.

Security Officer Core Subjects (01E)
This is a basic course that is required by the Commonwealth Of Virginia for an individual to work as a Security Officer in Virginia. This class consists of blocks of instruction on Virginia Law and Regulations, Code of Ethics and General Duties and Responsibilities. This course also consists of instruction on Law both criminal and civil. Information is also covered in areas of Security Patrol, Access Control, Communications, Documentation, Emergency Procedures and Confrontation Management.

Firearms, Armed Security Officer (07E)
This is a basic course that is required by the Commonwealth Of Virginia for an individual to work as an Armed Security Officer in Virginia. This course consists of general information that associates itself with the care and use of a firearm in the course of one’s duties. Issues such as Civil and Criminal liabilities are discussed and other areas such as Use of Force, Principles of Marksmanship and Judgmental Shooting as well as Low Level Light Shooting Familiarization. This course culminates with practical application in the form of Range Qualifications.

Armed Security Officer Arrest Authority (05E)
This course is required by the Commonwealth Of Virginia for any individual who will work in the capacity of an Armed Security Officer in Virginia. This course will provide the attendee with information such as Arrest Powers, Policies and guidelines set forth by the State. This course will also guide individuals in the procedures of making an arrest.

Core Subjects In-Service 4 hours (01i)
Attendance on this course is required by the Security Officer every 24 months as per 6 VAC 20-171-130. This course is broken down into two sections. The first is Legal, during this portion of the class Law and how it pertains to the Security Officer will be discussed with topics such as fundamentals of law, criminal law and civil law. The second section will cover areas of job related training such as ethical standards and professional conduct as well as the general duties and responsibilities of a security officer such as the role of the Security Officer, and security functions that include patrol, access control and crime prevention.

Armed Security Officer Firearms In-Service (07R)
Attendance on this course is required by an armed Security officer every 12 months as prescribed by 6 VAC 20-171-130. Topics of discussion during this class will include Civil and Criminal Liability, Justifiable Deadly Force, Range Safety as well as re-qualification as prescribed in the Compulsory Minimum Training Standards for Private Security Services Personnel, 6 VAC 20-171-370.
