Reporting to the Head of Maritime Operations, the role includes :

Tasks and Responsibilities:       

  • Manage the logistical operation for Securewest
  • Maintain a current and detailed working knowledge of all licence requirements including Department for International Trade (DIT) to ensure compliance
  • Maintain an up to date and detailed working knowledge of all national, international and flag state regulations relating to the movement and management of security equipment in all Securewest regions of operation
  • Maintain all licences and permits
  • Undertake supplier audits
  • Ensure timely and accurate tracking of all security equipment including maintenance requirements
  • Monitor all manpower to ensure compliance with company and ISO 28000:2007 standards
  • Act as duty operations support, conducting 'out of hours' cover as required
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for delivery of training on the safe and appropriate handling of all firearms and equipment used by Securewest

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant military or police service with honorable discharge
  • Demonstrable track record of successful professional experience in the private sector
  • Understanding of the regulations pertaining to the licencing, movement and use of security equipment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Exhibit sound and accurate decision making and record keeping under pressure and when working to tight deadlines
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and Word applications

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Skill at Arms instructor or equivalent
  • Knowledge of firearms systems deployed by Securewest
  • Professional experience of the commercial maritime security sector
  • Previous experience of the successful delivery of training in the private sector

Location: Plymouth, UK

Type of Engagement: Full Time

Reporting to: Head of Maritime Operations

Hours: 40 hours a week with 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays. Note : role involves some weekend and evening working as well as some overseas travel

Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience
