STANDARDS AND ACCREDITATIONS

 

Securewest has long been committed to the development and adoption of security industry standards and international codes of practice. It is a member of both the Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG) and a Certified member of the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI).

It is certified to :

  • OHSAS 18001:2007

Our training courses are approved by UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency & Department of Transport, MARAD / DNV, TRANSEC, City and Guilds  (Maritime Security Officer course) and Securewest is recognised as a competent authority for provision of its SOLAS SSAS monitoring service by many administrations, including: The Marshall Islands, UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Liberia.

For the provision of maritime security officers, Securewest has flag approval from Cyprus, Panama, Sweden, Luxembourg and many others. The Company is committed to strict adherence to the individual requirements of each flag.

 

Human Rights

Securewest is a signatory to the ICoC and a Founder member of the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA). We adhere to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) and mirror the General Principles of the 2011 United Nations Guiding Principles on business and human rights, otherwise known as the “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework.

We support the Human Rights Initiative at Sea (HRAS) in its aims to raise the profile, awareness, implementation and accountability for human rights protections, throughout the maritime industry, especially where they are currently absent and being abused.
