Challenge
Securewest was approached by a UK port authority who wanted to acquire Department for Transport approval to service ISPS compliant ships. This historic harbour aimed to attract cruise liners to call into the port to increase tourism in the area and boost the local economy.
The port authority was seeking an approved training provider and additional advice and guidance on the compliance they needed to gain for ISPS approval from the Department for Transport.

I found the instruction and support to be of the highest levels and it proved fundamental in achieving our ISPS compliance.

Solution
Securewest worked in partnership with the client to understand their requirements and implement an effective training solution where staff would be upskilled, and the port safety and security enhanced to meet the level of compliance set under the ISPS code.
We ran an accredited Port Facility Security Officers course for the port staff and provided a fully qualified assessor, who was deployed to conduct a Port Facility Security Assessment. From the Port Facility Security Assessment, we were able to develop a Port Facility Security Plan for our client.
Through our advice, guidance and training the port authority received ISPS status and now is servicing ISPS compliant ships, which has huge economic benefit to not only the port authority but also the local community.
