Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 12 May – 18 May 2026

The Securewest International Maritime Assistance Centre (MAC) recorded 14 maritime-related incidents during the reporting period of 12 May – 18 May 2026. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 12-May-26 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 39 migrants intercepted off the coast of İzmir’s Çeşme district, Turkey.
  • 12-May-26 Boarding – Bulk carrier BROOMPARK boarded while transiting the Singapore Strait.
  • 12-May-26 Pirate Attack Group – Pirate Action Group reportedly preparing to hijack MVs off Bosaso, Somalia.
  • 13-May-26 Attack – Livestock carrier HAJI ALI attacked in Gulf of Oman.
  • 14-May-26 Boarding – MPOV ELARA DALIMBA boarded while at anchor in the Ivory Coast, Gulf of Guinea.
  • 14-May-26 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 38 migrants intercepted off the coast of İzmir’s Karaburun district, Turkey.
  • 14-May-26 General Security Warning – Vessel taken by unauthorised personnel bound for Iranian Territorial Waters, NE of Fujairah, UAE.
  • 15-May-26 Approach – Fishing vessel approached by suspicious skiff in the Bab el-Mandeb.
  • 15-May-26 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 22 migrants and one migrant smuggling suspect were intercepted off the coast of Muğla, Turkey.
  • 15-MAY-26 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 28 migrants apprehended off the coast of Mugla, Turkey.
  • 16-May-26 Robbery – Dinghy stolen in Saint Martin.
  • 16-May-26 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 30 migrants and one migrant smuggling suspect were apprehended off the coast of Aydın, Turkey.
  • 17-May-26 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 74 migrants apprehended off the coast of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 18-May-26 Pirate Attack Group – Operation ATLANTA report possible Pirate Action Group (PAG) threat.
