Securewest International Strengthens Long-Term Partnership with Coventry University Following Competitive Tender

Securewest International is pleased to announce the successful re-appointment of its Travel Risk Management contract with Coventry University following a recent competitive tender process.

The outcome marks the continuation of a long-term strategic partnership, reflecting both the strength of the existing relationship and Securewest’s ability to deliver a proportionate, risk-based approach to managing travel risk across a complex global environment.

Securewest has supported the University’s duty of care to staff and students travelling internationally since 2018, developing a strong understanding of Coventry University’s operating environment and requirements.

At the core of the service is Securewest’s Sphere travel risk management platform and mobile app, delivered in partnership with Safeture, a leading provider of travel risk management technology. The collaboration combines Securewest’s operational expertise with Safeture’s people-first technology to deliver a fully integrated solution.

The platform provides real-time visibility of global travel activity, enabling organisations to locate and communicate with travellers quickly and effectively. This is supported by continuous monitoring and coordinated incident response from Securewest’s 24/7 Global Response Centre (GRC) in Plymouth, UK, providing continuous human-led support through a dedicated team of experienced response operators.

Key capabilities include location-specific risk assessments and intelligence to support pre-travel planning, scheduled and ad hoc traveller check-ins, and immediate access to support through an SOS function connecting directly to the GRC. In the event of an incident, Securewest provides coordinated response support, including liaison with assistance providers and the coordination of medical or security evacuations where required.

This integrated approach, combining technology and human oversight, enables Coventry University to manage a diverse and complex travel profile, including student mobility, international research, fieldwork and global partnerships, within a structured and well-governed framework.

The recent tender process provided an opportunity to benchmark Securewest’s capabilities against the wider market. The outcome recognises the strength of its combined technology, consultancy and operational delivery model, as well as its understanding of the higher education sector.

John Casson MBE, Chairman/CEO, Securewest said: “I am delighted that Coventry University has renewed our contract. They are an excellent client to work with and appreciate that we provide nothing less than a cost-effective, personalised, and dedicated 24/7 service.”

Karen Lawrence, Associate Director, Safety, Security, Sustainability & Compliance Infrastructure Services at Coventry University, said: “Supporting the safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is central to how Coventry University approaches international travel. Securewest’s approach to travel risk management aligns with our governance arrangements and helps ensure that appropriate information, oversight and response mechanisms are in place across a diverse global travel profile.”

Magnus Hultman, CEO of Safeture, said: “We are proud to continue supporting Securewest International and Coventry University with technology that helps organizations stay connected with their travelers, respond quickly to changing situations, and strengthen Duty of Care across global operations.”

Securewest will continue to work closely with Coventry University, alongside Safeture, to support safe, informed and resilient global activity.

The continuation of this partnership reinforces Securewest’s position as a trusted Travel Risk Management provider within the higher education sector.
