Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 21 – 27 October 2025

The Securewest International Maritime Assistance Centre (MAC) recorded 19 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 21 – 27 October 2025. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 21-OCT-25 Drugs Interdiction – U.S. Forces attack an alleged drug smuggling boat in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
  • 21-OCT-25 Approach – Vessel shadowed by small craft south of Benin, Gulf of Guinea.
  • 21-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 80 migrants apprehended off the coast of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 21-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 11 migrants apprehended off the coast of Mugla, Turkey.
  • 22-OCT-25 Drugs Interdiction – Nearly $1 billion worth of narcotics intercepted in the Arabian Sea.
  • 22-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 87 Migrants rescued off Greece.
  • 22-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 40 migrants die as boat sinks off  Mahdia, Tunisia.
  • 22-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 220 migrants intercepted in the English Channel.
  • 22-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 67 migrants apprehended off the coast of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 22-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 60 Migrants recued by a cruise ship off Greece.
  • 23-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 48 migrants intercepted off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 24-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 41 migrants intercepted offshore of Mugla, Turkey
  • 25-OCT-25 Drugs Interdiction – Over 1,180 kilos of narcotics intercepted in Port of Tin Can, Nigeria.
  • 25-OCT-25 Drugs Interdiction – Drugs seized by the Kenyan Navy and Coast Guard forces.
  • 26-OCT-25 Pirate Attack Group – Pirate Attack Group operating off Somalian Coastline.
  • 26-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 76 migrants land Sardinia, Italy.
  • 26-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 40 migrants intercepted offshore of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 27-OCT-25 Drugs Interdiction – Drugs Seizure off the Canary Islands.
  • 27-OCT-25 Migrant and Refugee Incident – 4 migrants die as boat sinks off Lesbos, Greece.
