Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 12 – 19 June 2023

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 11 maritime related
incidents during the reporting period of 12 – 19 June 2023. The following incidents were
recorded:

  • 13-JUN-23 – Boarding – Underway bulk carrier boarded in the Singapore Strait.
  • 14-JUN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Over 100 migrants rescued by Greek Coast Guard.
  • 15-JUN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Turkish Coast Guard rescues 43 migrants.
  • 15-JUN-23 – Robbery – Anchored yacht robbed in Saint Lucia.
  • 16-JUN-23 – Drugs Interdiction – Authorities seize 1.6 tonnes of cocaine at London Gateway port, UK.
  • 16-JUN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 200 migrants in five dinghies intercepted in the English Channel.
  • 17-JUN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – More than 100 people rescued from migrant boat off Italy.
  • 17-JUN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 117 migrants rescued in Mediterranean Sea off Libya.
  • 17-JUN-23 – Drugs Interdiction – Cannabis recovered from the sea off Sri Lanka.
  • 18-JUN-23 – General Security Warning – Activists block chemical tanker in Norway.
  • 18-JUN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – More than 1,000 migrants cross the English Channel in three days.
