Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 18 – 24 April 2023

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 14 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 18 April – 24 April 2023. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 18-APR-23 – Robbery – Anchored yacht robbed in Coxen Hole, Honduras.
  • 19-APR-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Spanish Coast Guard rescues 344 migrants off the Canary
  • Islands.
  • 19-APR-23 – Drugs Interdiction – Over a ton of cocaine found floating in the English Channel.
  • 19-APR-23 – Boarding Anchored cargo ship boarded in Luanda, Angola.
  • 20-APR-23 – Suspicious Approach – Yacht approached in the Caribbean Sea.
  • 20-APR-23 – Approach – Yacht approached by fishing vessel off Honduras.
  • 20-APR-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Migrant boat runs aground in Greece.
  • 21-APR-23 – Drugs Interdiction – High-speed drugs chase off Mallorca.
  • 21-APR-23 – Drugs Interdiction – U.S. Navy ship seizes $42m of illegal drugs in the Gulf of Oman.
  • 21-APR-23 – Drugs Interdiction – Cocaine discovered on bulk carrier off Venice, Italy.
  • 21-APR-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 26 migrants land at Marquesas Keys, USA.
  • 22-APR-23 – Maritime Information Advisory – Private yacht reported missing in the Red Sea.
  • 24-APR-23 – General Security Warning – Drone attack at port of Sevastopol, Ukraine.
  • 24-APR-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 21 Migrants boats attempt crossing to Lampedusa, Italy.
