The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 14 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 14 – 20 June 2022.

  • 14-JUN-22 – General Security Warning – Activists block cruise ship in Marseille, France.
  • 14-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 444 migrants intercepted in the English Channel.
  • 14-JUN-22 – Boarding – Passenger boat boarded in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
  • 14-JUN-22 – Robbery – Outboard engine stolen in Linton Bay, Panama.
  • 15-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 12 suspected migrants land in Devon, UK.
  • 15-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Over 80 migrants rescued in the Mediterranean.
  • 15-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – More than 140 migrants intercepted in the Mediterranean.
  • 16-JUN-22 – Drugs Interdiction – 1,300 kg of cocaine seized in Cartagena, Colombia.
  • 16-JUN-22 – Drugs Interdiction – 45 kg of cocaine discovered in Durres, Albania.
  • 16-JUN-22 – Drugs Interdiction – 56 kg of heroin seized in the Arabian Sea.
  • 18-JUN-22 – Suspicious Approach – Underway tanker approached in the southern Red Sea.
  • 19-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Over 100 migrants rescued off Mykonos.
  • 19-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 19 migrants land on the Spanish island of Cabrera.
  • 20-JUN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 160 migrants rescued off Greek island of Delos.

Robbery IncidentRobbery: Theft from a vessel or from persons aboard the vessel.
Migrant IncidentMigrant and Refugee Incident: This could involve Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, or information about a boat capsizing and people drowning, or an attack on the group.
Drugs InterdictionDrugs Interdiction: Focused on interrupting illegal drugs smuggled by sea, usually a large number of drugs are seized.
Suspicious ApproachSuspicious Approach: All other unexplained activity in close proximity by an unknown vessel.
