The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 5 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 3 – 9 January 2023.

The following incidents were recorded:

  • 03-JAN-22 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Greek Coast Guard intercept suspected human smugglers in Aegean Sea.
  • 04-JAN-23 – Robbery – Underway tug and barge robbed in Singapore Strait.
  • 07-JAN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Cruise ship rescues four migrants in the Caribbean.
  • 07-JAN-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Five dead after boat carrying migrants sinks off Tunisian coast.
  • 09-JAN-23 – Boarding – Armed boarding of anchored ship at Callao Anchorage, Peru.


Migrants and refugee incidents SmallMigrant and Refugee Incident: This could involve Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, or information about a boat capsizing and people drowning, or an attack on the group.
Robbery SmallRobbery: Theft from a vessel or from persons aboard the vessel.
Boarding SmallBoarding: Unauthorized boarding of a vessel by persons not part of its complement without successfully taking control of the vessel.
