The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 20 maritime-related
incidents during the reporting period of 14 – 20 May 2024. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 14-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 26 migrants detained off the Florida Keys.
  • 15-May-24 – Boarding – Cargo ship MUROU boarded at Dumai Anchorage, Indonesia.
  • 15-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 14 migrants intercepted in English Channel.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 116 migrants detained off Senegal.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 42 migrants rescued off Crete.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 34 migrants detained off Aydin, Turkey.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 86 migrants rescued and detained off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 47 migrants detained off Mugla, Turkey.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 23 migrants rescued off Balikesir, Turkey.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 24 Migrants apprehended off Canakkale, Turkey.
  • 16-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 117 migrants detected crossing the English Channel.
  • 17-May-24 – Pirate Attack Group – Suspected Pirate activity off Garacad, Somalia.
  • 17-May-24 Attack – Vessel hit by unknown object 76 nm NW of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, Red Sea.
  • 17-May-24 Boarding – Product tanker boarded in mid Atlantic 360 nm SSW of Cabo Verde.
  • 17-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 22 migrants rescued in English Channel.
  • 18-May-24 – Attack – Oil tanker WIND attacked 10nm SW of Mokha, Yemen.
  • 18-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 103 migrants detected crossing the English Channel.
  • 18-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 23 migrants missing after their boat disappears off Tunisia.
  • 19-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 68 migrants intercepted in the English Channel.
  • 19-May-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 180 Migrants rescued off Morrocco.
