Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 21 – 27 February 2023

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 9 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 21 – 27 February 2023. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 21-FEB-23 – Robbery – Anchored tanker LOS ANGELES SPIRIT robbed at Callao Anchorage, Peru.
  • 22-FEB-23 – Boarding – Bulk carrier LOWLANDS AMSTEL boarded in Singapore Strait.
  • 23-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 59 migrants detained from boat off Hutchinson Island,
  • Florida.
  • 23-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Four migrants missing off the Greek Island of Samos.
  • 23-FEB-23 – General Security Warning – Irregular activity reported in the Gulf of Aden.
  • 23-FEB-23 – General Security Warning – Cruise missiles fired by North Korea into the Sea of Japan.
  • 23-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 22 Cuban migrants land at Dry Tortugas National Park,
  • Florida, USA.
  • 25-FEB-23 – Drugs Interdiction – U.S. Coast Guard cutter interdicts illegal drugs shipment in Arabian Sea.
  • 26-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Migrant shipwreck off southern Italy.
