Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 28 May – 03 June 2024

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 15 maritime-related
incidents during the reporting period of 28 May – 03 June 2024. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 28-May-24 – Drugs Interdiction – 1.9 tons of cocaine seized, Port of Antwerp, Belgium.
  • 28-May-24 – Drugs Interdiction – 104kg cocaine seized in Athens, Greece.
  • 28-MAY-24 – Attack – Bulk carrier LAAX attack by missle 31nm SW of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, Red Sea.
  • 28-MAY-24 – Robbery – Boat stolen from berth at Island Water World, Grenada
  • 29-MAY-24 – Boarding – Anchored cargo vessel AAL MERKUR boarded at Vung Tau Anchorage, Vietnam.
  • 29-MAY-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 74 migrants intercepted off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 29-MAY-24 – Kidnapping – – Two crew members kidnapped from cargo ship AM DELTA near Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea.
  • 30-MAY-24 – Attack – Port and vessels attacked in Kerch, Crimea.
  • 30-MAY-24 – Attack – Russian naval vessels attacked in Chornomorske, Black Sea.
  • 30-MAY-24 – General Security Warning – North Korea fires ten short range missiles into Eastern Sea.
  • 30-MAY-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 41 migrants rescued by off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 31-MAY-24 – Drugs Interdiction – HMS DIAMOND intercepts £25 million worth of drugs in Indian Ocean.
  • 31-MAY-24 – Approach – Underway MV approached by suspected pirate attack group 120nm north of Bosaso, Gulf of Aden.
  • 01-JUN-24 – Attack – Tanker AL SALAM reports explosion 48nm SW of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.
  • 03-JUN-24 – Maritime Information Advisory – Indefinite strike action at Nigerian ports.
