Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 7 – 13 February 2023

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 14 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 7 – 13 February 2023. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 07-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident- Many missing after migrant shipwreck in the Aegean Sea.
  • 07-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Three dead after migrant boat hits rocks off Greek island of Lesbos.
  • 07-FEB-23 – Robbery – Robbery and assault in Marigot Bay, Saint Martin.
  • 08-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 42 migrants rescued east of the Canary Islands.
  • 08-FEB-23 – Drugs Interdiction – New Zealand authorities recover three tonnes of cocaine floating at sea.
  • 08-FEB-23 – Robbery – Dinghy stolen in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
  • 08-FEB-23 – Robbery – Underway barge robbed in the Singapore Strait.
  • 09-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – More than 100 migrants arrive in Florida Keys.
  • 09-FEB-23 – Robbery – Anchored yacht robbed at gunpoint in Isla de Espiritu Santo, Panama.
  • 09-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – More than 100 migrants arrive in Florida Keys.
  • 09-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 114 Haitian migrants arrive on rickety boat in Florida Keys.
  • 10-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 29 Cuban migrants apprehended in Florida Keys.
  • 12-FEB-23 – Boarding – Attempted boarding of anchored bulk carrier in Puerto Bolivar, Colombia.
  • 12-FEB-23 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – UK Border Force officials escort 50 migrants into Dover harbour.
