Weekly Maritime Summary 11 – 17 November 2019

The Securewest Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded three maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 11-17 November 2019.

Maritime Incidents

  • On 11 Nov 2019 – Attack – Suspected pirates attacked a supply ship in the Gulf of Mexico causing injury to crewmen aboard.
  • On 11 Nov 2019 – Kidnapping – Ten armed men attacked a passenger boat transiting to Port Harcourt, Nigeria, kidnapping four immigration service officers.
  • On 17 Nov 2019 – Attack – A vessel was attacked in the vicinity of Kamaran Island, in the Red Sea off the west coast of Yemen.

Key:

Kidnapping IncidentKidnapping: Unauthorised forcible removal of persons belonging to the vessel from it.
Maritime Incident SmallAttack: An incident where weapons are discharged by pirates or pirate paraphernalia such as ladder, grappling hook, make contact with the vessel.
